Time to play CatchUp!
So the last thing you saw was two photos...
The last thing you heard about was Supanova... in April...
A LOT HAS HAPPENED!
But I'll be brief...ish
Despite the con being hideously disorganised as you may have heard I actually really enjoyed it
and I dressed up as the two queens from Tim Burtons Alice in Wonderland!
On the Saturday we had the loverly Helen
join us as Um and on Sunday the beautiful Erin
was our Alice. I would like to say we all did a spectacular job if i do say so ourselves. This is probably the most we've put into a costume... Or at least it was for me. Practically 2 weeks of sewing!
Helen entered the comp on saturday and won a fabulous honorable mention! And we entered as a threesome on Sunday and won Best Skit
I enjoyed it
Unfortunately we dont have a video for it (yet)
Was the opposite of Comicon where it was excessively organised, the only real thing i would complain about was prices, but OH WELL! I still again enjoyed myself. But because it was so expensive we only went one day
I spent the day again with Alannah and Helen (The Derpettes) and we cosplayed as a Legend of Zelda Trio, Alannah was Link, Helen was Shiek and I was Imp Form Midna. We had SOOO MUCH fun derping around and I can't thank Brett enough for helping me with the headpiece and Liz for helping me paint me
My bodysuit was hard to paint cause it had to be on me for the lines to be right... They both are geniuses!
I cant claim credit for their work in the slightest! But together we did win Best Technical
We did do a skit and IT WAS AWESOME, but we did not win that category
OH WELL! TIME TO UP OUR GAME AGAIN!
(we dont have footage because manifest wouldnt let people film... boo)
I have quiet a few i need to post... these include:
BeetleJuice (actual shots) Red Chair Productions
Midna (studio shots) Red Chair Productions
Sexy Shiny Shots (In my lounge room cause they are HAWT) Aidan Martin
Ugly Step Sisters (Studio Shots) Ian Holdsworth
Queen of Hearts (Studio Shorts) Ian Holdsworth
I have also been doing some volunteer work with costuming (FINALLY) which i have been really stoked about! The Melbourne Costume Group (MCG) has started helping with local things like Dymocks Bookstore on Collins St held a large event for assisting and donating money to the Indigenous Literacy Foundation. We helped out in costume interacting with the customers and giving them a storybook experiance. It was delightful!
Coming up I am also helping out at the Monash Childrens Hospital as the Queen of Hearts to help cheer up kids and give them a day to remember.
Melbourne Costume Group has also helped out with KidsFlix, a movie event where costumers go entertain underprividgled children/children with disabilities before a big movie!
I love volunteering and I am finally getting something out of costume by doing it for the community
It makes me happy!
FUTURE PLANS i.e ARMAGEDDON!
I told myself i wasnt going to cosplay before i go to New Zealand but I CANT RESIST!
Just two... Ragetti from Pirates of the Carribean because Marty and Pintel are going and i need a photo with them
And a five person Thumbelina group which will be epic
We have a skit and all ill hopefully keep you posted
Oh... and I had a birthday... It was musical themed
I may post a photo of that too
